Kellyanne Conway Says She Was Assaulted In A Restaurant Last Year

Hannah Bleau

I don’t really remember hearing about this before, but dang.

Kellyanne Conway says she was assaulted by a crazy woman in a Mexican restaurant last October. She said it happened at Uncle Julio’s (super good food, BTW). Her daughter was with her at the time of the incident.

“I was standing next to my daughter and many of her friends at dinner and she was right here, right next to me. And her friends were too. And somebody was grabbing me from behind, grabbed my arms and was shaking me to the point where I thought maybe somebody was hugging me, one of the other parents coming to pick up his or her daughter,” she said. “And then as I turned around it just felt weird, it felt like that’s a little aggressive. I turned around and the woman had grabbed my hand.”

She said the woman’s face was filled with “terror and anger.”

“She ought to pay for that because she has no right to touch anybody,” Conway said. “She put her hands on me. I said, ‘Get your hands off me.’ She put her hands on me, was shaking me and doing it from the front with my daughter right there who then videotaped her.”

I would be SO FREAKED OUT.

Conway called the police and the resulting investigation identified the alleged assailant as Mary Elizabeth Inabinett. She was charged in November with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct and faces a court date in March.

Conway’s alleged incident is the third disruption of a Trump official dining at a Mexican restaurant.

It’s just so inappropriate. Trump won. Get over it. Shaking and screaming at Kellyanne Conway isn’t going to change a darn thing. It just makes you look psychotic.

“[Y]ou need to control your temper, control yourself,” Conway said, according to CNN.

Wait. This is my favorite part.

“You need to get over the damn 2016 election and do that because chances are — the big chances and I believe — that this man will be re-elected,” she added.

Can you even imagine? Will they all explode?

You should know that the woman’s attorney says that she (the perpetrator) didn’t “assault” Kellyanne. Rather, she was expressing her First Amendment rights.

“She did not assault Ms. Conway. Facts at trial will show this to be true and show Ms. Conway’s account to be false,” the attorney said.

Riiiiight. Putting your hands on someone = First Amendment expression. Is that what we’re going with now?

For those wondering why we didn’t hear about this incident before…

Via Politico:

Conway was reluctant to talk about the incident publicly because it happened in front of her daughter. She told Bash that “I don’t want it to become a thing, I just want it to become a teachable moment for everyone.”

Conway’s revelation would add her name to the list of Trump administration officials who have faced harassment in the Washington area for their work at the White House.

No one should act like that. It’s so uncalled for.
