We’re on day 26 of the partial government shutdown. President Trump hasn’t displayed any signs of caving, but he has expressed a willingness to meet with Democrats and talk it through.
The same cannot be said of Democrats. They refused to participate in the bipartisan working lunch yesterday. They’re unwilling to come to the table, and Trump is unwilling to take a deal that doesn’t involve funding for a physical barrier on our border. He’s forcing the issue.
“Sadly, given the security concerns and unless government re-opens this week, I suggest that we work together to determine another suitable date after government has re-opened for this address or for you to consider delivering your State of the Union address in writing to the Congress on January 29th,” Pelosi wrote in a letter to Trump.
Today, I wrote to @realDonaldTrump recommending that we delay the State of the Union until after government re-opens, as the @SecretService, the lead federal agency for #SOTU security, faces its 26th day without funding. https://t.co/K2oL8WGvqo pic.twitter.com/g3fIlxDbbK

Here’s a better look at the entire letter:
ORRRRRRR you can get your party off their butts and agree to secure the border. I like that option better.
