This is heartbreaking.

California Officer Natalie Corona was shot and killed Thursday night after responding to a collision.  She was only 22 years old.

Davis Police Department officials say 22-year-old Officer Natalie Corona was shot after responding to a traffic accident about 6:45 p.m. Thursday in the community west of Sacramento. Police said the shooting happened in the area of Fifth and C streets near downtown.

Corona was rushed to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, where she later died.

A manhunt was underway, but authorities found the suspect dead in a home from “an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.”

It’s just devastating. I can’t imagine what her parents are going through.

This tragic news comes less than a month after the death of Ronil Singh, the officer who was shot and killed by an illegal immigrant nearby. “…90 miles south of Davis in the city of Newman,” to be exact.

These men and women put their lives on the line every day. Never forget that. Say a prayer for Corona’s family. They need it right now.
