I’ve never watched “VeggieTales,” but I’ve heard of it.
Basically, a bunch of talking vegetables teach kids about the Bible. According to certain social justice warriors, it also teaches them to hate minorities.
Yup. Of course. Because everything is racist.
According to the Daily Wire:
According to The College Fix, Cal State San Marcos held a so-called “Whiteness Forum” last Thursday where a variety of topics pertaining to America’s systemic racism was discussed. The two-hour event featured more than a dozen poster board projects critiquing various aspects of society. On top of lambasting the NFL and white women for perpetuating racism, the cartoon where talking vegetables perform biblical stories for children somehow found its way into the discussion, with speakers alleging it portrays racial stereotypes.
“The Christian cartoon ‘VeggieTales’ is racist because the villains are vegetables of color,” The College Fix reports the forum as saying.
Do vegetables have races? How are vegetables “of color.” They mean like… darker vegetables?
A female student who worked on the forum told The College Fix that the villains in “VeggieTales” have ethnic accents, such as Latino, while the heroic characters sound white.
“When kids see the good white character triumph over the bad person of color character, they are taught that white is right and minorities are the source of evil,” the project stated.
As I said, I have NO idea if this is true, because I’ve never watched the show.
What I DO know is that based on the other things this group is complaining about, I don’t exactly trust them to be “objective.”
Another project also denounced the NFL as a racist institution that exploits the talents of mostly black athletes for rich white owners. Another said that white women perpetuate racism in America by supporting President Trump. The College Fix has more:
Various titles for projects included ‘White Avoidance,’ ‘Civilized vs. Uncivilized,’ ‘Kill the Land, Kill the Indian,’ ‘White Women’s Role in White Supremacy,’ ‘Gun Ownership and Racial Bias’ and more.
One project argued the NFL is to blame for its role in white supremacy, as most football players are black, yet most coaches, who many times were previous players, are white. It also noted that an even higher majority of team owners are white.
Still another student project stated that white supremacy is caused in part by the media, since white shooters are simply called shooters on the news, yet minority shooters are often called terrorists.
And a flier handed out with the ‘White Women’s Role in White Supremacy’ project shows a picture of women supporting President Trump flanked by pictures of women in the KKK.
See what I mean?
It’s awfully hard to take anything coming out of this “forum” seriously.
By the way, the “Whiteness Forum” began as an extension of Professor Dreama Moon’s Communications 454 class titled “The Communication of Whiteness” -and is now an annual event in which students are taught that white people are the source of all evil
“I feel like the university system [leaders] are a bunch of hypocrites, they’re talking about stopping racism and promoting equality for all, yet they have no problem bashing white people,” the student said, adding he is half-Mexican. “They’re trying to make people feel guilty for being white.”
