‘Progressive’ Church Has Plans To Open A Brewery And Donate Proceeds To Planned Parenthood

Everyone has completely lost their minds.

Sooooooo apparently there’s a super cool “progressive” church out there called the Greater Purpose Church. It’s based in Santa Cruz, California, (Cali– suddenly, the progressive insanity makes sense) and it’s truly off the rails.

Before I get into this, please know that I know not any one church is perfect. I’ve spent a great deal of time in church (I have some fabulous memories) but I’ll be honest: I’m actually totally disillusioned by “church” right now. I know it’s important, but the modern church is so far removed from what it’s supposed to look like. It’s so touchy, feely and me me me. Far too many places have nothing more than a glorified Christian club. I’m hungry for more. Yes, we should “build community” but ALSO be real with each other and dive into the power of the Word. THAT’S what changes lives. The Word. Not another “Oh– you can do it!” message once a week. I want to see radical things happen. I want to see healing, restoration and all the promises God gave us come to fruition. I want to see people operating in gifts of the Spirit. There’s so much that we’re not tapping into.

I’ve seen amazing things happen, and I have to say. Most of them never happened in a church setting. I’m over the whole “let’s sing four songs, get another variation of the same pep talk and close out with one more song” thing. That’s religion, and religion sucks.

OK, OK. Enough of me going on and on about that. It’s just something that’s been on my mind lately.

This “progressive” church is trying to do more, but it rubs me wrong. SO wrong.

The church is opening a brewery and donating some of its proceeds to Planned Parenthood. Yes, really.

“What would it look like to be a church that looked like the movement that Jesus started and not like the church that we know in America today,” Pastor Christopher VanHall said. “Out of that consistent questioning came this model for a brewery church that generates funds for local charities.”

I’m confident Jesus wouldn’t donate money to an organization that killed babies.

Also, this guy is a total idiot, because he believes Jesus was killed because of white supremacy, which totally diminishes the ACTUAL story and reason for their hatred. Religious people hated who Jesus was– the Son of God. Our Savior. To attribute the cause of His sacrifice to something as insignificant as society’s qualms about His race? Downright insulting.

“We are all for racial justice, which Jesus was a Palestinian, Jewish rabbi, he was a person of color that was killed by white supremacy so we’re usually making every effort to be on the front lines for racial justice. So that’s what sets us apart from many American churches,” he said.

No. What sets you apart is your deliberate ignorance.

Anyway, 30%-60% of the brewery’s proceeds will go to charity. And again, by charity, we’re talking places like Planned Parenthood, so that’s super neat.

Hey– if “progressive” churches are doing crap like this, does that mean PP doesn’t need taxpayer funds anymore? Hello? Anyone? Bueller?
