James Comey’s big interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos airs tonight. We obviously don’t have ALL the details on what he’ll say, but we do know that he’ll compare President Trump to a mob boss, which yawn.
We basically have a bitter, disgruntled former employee (who’s trying to sell a book) on our hands. That’s all this is.
Rep. Trey Gowdy discussed Comey and his new book on “Fox & Friends” and ripped him a new one.
“I think it’s sad,” Gowdy said. “One of the things Director Comey and I did agree on is we needed an apolitical FBI. We had some fairly heated exchanges about that. I can’t think of anyone who’s done a better job of politicizing the FBI than he has in the last 36 to 48 hours by talking about tanning bed goggles and the length of a tie.”
Uh-huh. Couldn’t agree more. Comey’s throwing a hysterical fit. And yes– Comey does have a line about tanning bed goggles in his book.
“His face appeared slightly orange with bright white half-moons under his eyes where I assumed he placed small tanning goggles, and impressively coifed, bright blond hair, which upon close inspection looked to be all his.”
No. That wasn’t something written by a p*ssy hat wearing #resister. The former FBI director wrote that.
There was a line about the tie too.
“As he extended his hand. I made a mental note to check its size. It was smaller than mine, but did not seem unusually so.”
Yeah? Well you’re like 42 feet tall. Perhaps you forgot?
There’s also this completely condescending line:
“I stared at the soft white pouches under his expressionless blue eyes. I remember thinking in that moment that the president doesn’t understand the FBI’s role in American life.”
Sorry, but his book sounds ridiculous.
“That is beneath the dignity of the offices that he held,” Gowdy continued. “So I’m really disappointed.”
Gowdy also ripped Democrats for being hypocrites and suddenly LOVING Comey, and he described Comey’s masterpiece as a “tabloid book.”
“It was Democrats that wanted to put him in jail this time last year,” Gowdy said. “It wasn’t Republicans. He had a tough 2016, but he’s making it worse by writing this kind of a tabloid book.”
