Sean Hannity Slaps Back ‘Clueless’ Shepard Smith

Hannah Bleau

Shepard Smith recently spoke to Time Magazine’s Daniel D’Addario and basically insulted all the big time opinion personalities on his network. Non-PC version: He crapped all over opinion reporting. He really believes he’s doing something more difficult and honorable, but he’s only fooling himself. He’s as biased as they come.

“…some of our opinion programming is there strictly to be entertaining. I get that. I don’t work there. I wouldn’t work there. I don’t want to sit around and yell at each other and talk about your philosophy and my philosophy. That sounds horrible to me,” Shep said.

“We serve different masters. We work for different reporting chains, we have different rules. They don’t really have rules on the opinion side. They can say whatever they want. If it’s their opinion. I don’t really watch a lot of opinion programming. I’m busy,” he added.

Yeah. Busy convincing himself that he’s not a partisan hack.

ANYWHO. Sean Hannity– who is, arguably THE biggest opinion personality on Fox News– fired back.

EXACTLY. I went through the same thing (although at a MUCH lower level) in college. I’ve always loved opinion writing. It’s edgy, informative, and if anything way more difficult. You need to know what you’re talking about, and you need to be able to BACK UP your position. A lot of thought goes into it (unless you work for a liberal rag and just create different variations of saying “Trump is a racist!”) Opinion writing was greatly frowned upon in the journalism department of my school (at least, conservative opinions were frowned upon). Liberal opinions were passed off as “straight news.” I always found that hilarious. Liberals were NEVER biased. I caught on to the game rather quickly. That’s how it works all the way up. Liberals are allowed to be BIASED and WRONG, but they hide behind the “reporter” label. Because of that, they never have to personally back up their shoddy opinions (which are cloaked as “real news”).

Just my humble observation.

Laura Ingraham also had some things to say about Shep’s remarks.

She’s right. Shep has NO idea. He doesn’t understand the work that goes into what they do.

Call it opinion and diminish it all you want, but truth has a bias.
