Republican Lawmaker Stuns Everyone After Implying His Democratic Colleague Was Gay For Touching His Arm

I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but I’m siding with the Democrat here.

Bear with me. There’s a bit to untangle here.

It all went down during a committee meeting in Pennsylvania. Apparently, Democratic Rep. Matt Bradford kept putting his hand on Republican Rep. Daryl Metcalfe. Metcalfe totally overreacted and suggested that Bradford was gay.

“Look, I’m a heterosexual. I have a wife, I love my wife, I don’t like men – as you might. But stop touching me all the time,” he said.

“Keep your hands to yourself. If you want to touch somebody, you have people on your side of the aisle who might like it. I don’t,” he added.

Bradford– who’s married TO A WOMAN (he also has kids)– tried to laugh it off and said, “My intent was just to beg for your permission for about 30 seconds.”

Metcalfe was all, “Then beg, don’t touch.”

Bradford later told that the lawmaker’s comments were ‘unpleasant and awkward and appalling’, adding: ‘In this day and age, it’s really inappropriate.’

Metcalfe told Triblive that he didn’t know anything about Bradford’s sexual preferences.

‘I don’t know what [Bradford’s sexuality] is,’ he said. ‘But I know from him touching me all the time that he indicates he likes to touch men.’

When asked about Metcalfe’s claim, Bradford said: ‘I’ll be honest, I often try to calm him down. I speak with my hands. I’ve tried to calm him down.’

He told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that he was not making a pass at Metcalfe, but instead was trying to ‘restrain him so I could finish my thought’.

I totally think he’s out of line here. I gesture a lot when I talk and have probably put my hands on peoples’ shoulders more times than I realize. That doesn’t mean I’m flirting with that person. It means I gesture when I talk and probably didn’t realize I was touching you. GAWD. Everyone KNOCK IT OFF. Act like REASONABLE human beings for once. Guys like that make Republicans look like psychos.
