Did BuzzFeed And CNN Fall For ‘Fake News’?

Hannah Bleau

On Tuesday afternoon, CNN published an “explosive” story which claims that Russian operatives have “compromising personal and financial information” on Trump. BuzzFeed followed up by publishing an unverified dossier supposedly prepared by a former British intelligence official. One of the claims made in the dossier? Trump allegedly hired prostitutes to pee on a bed President Obama slept on. *insert hundreds of urine jokes here*

BuzzFeed admitted that the dossier was “unverified” but decided to publish it anyway. That way, “Americans can make up their own minds about allegations about the president-elect that have circulated at the highest levels of the US government.”

Trump vehemently denied the claims:

And WikiLeaks questioned the validity of the documents:

Oh, it gets worse. People are now saying that everyone was trolled by 4chan. According to this, the story is a hoax created by 4chan users. The hoax was allegedly sent to Rick Wilson, who sent it to the CIA. Meaning, they were trolled.

However, Wilson tweeted this out:

Let me make this crystal clear. Right now, NONE of these reports– not from BuzzFeed or 4chan– have been verified. We’re simply keeping you up to date on the rumors.

However, if this 4chan account turns out to be true, I don’t know if I’ll laugh or cry. This is what happens when you run away with UNVERIFIED reports, MSM.
