Last night, the New York Times dropped a bomb on Donald Trump, reporting that they got a copy of his taxes from 1995. It’s all over the news this morning.
Team Hillary almost immediately put out this statement when the NYT’s report hit –
Trump “apparently got to avoid paying taxes for nearly two decades—while tens of millions of working families paid theirs.” pic.twitter.com/g62jB9fKr5

There it is. The bombshell report reveals the colossal nature of Donald Trump’s past business failures and just how long he may have avoided paying any federal income taxes whatsoever. In one year, Donald Trump lost nearly a billion dollars. A billion. He stiffed small businesses, laid off workers, and walked away from hardworking communities. And how did it work out for him? He apparently got to avoid paying taxes for nearly two decades – while tens of millions of working families paid theirs. He calls that ‘smart.’ Now that the gig is up, why doesn’t he go ahead and release his returns to show us all how ‘smart’ he really is?
If that sounds awfully familiar, it’s pretty similar to what Hillary said about Trump’s taxes at the debate last Monday. So rehearsed. So scripted. So predictable.
All of this begs the question – how did Team Hillary know the New York Times was going to drop this report so quickly? Either they have a psychic working for them around the clock, or they knew that this was going to be an issue real soon and had the statement ready to go at the appointed time.
The whole thing smacks of the Clinton Machine. Dig up dirt, plant info with your minions in the press, hint about it in advance, gloat when it comes out. Politics as usual.
That’s the angle I’d go with, if I were advising Donald Trump. But that’s just me.
