Ashley Judd Sues Harvey Weinstein For Hurting Her Career

According to this, Ashley Judd, who as you know I loathe with the fury of a billion suns, has filed suit against Harvey Weinstein claiming that he ruined her career.

She filed the suit earlier today in the LA Superior Court, and specifically points out that Peter Jackson, director of Lord of the Rings, said he didn’t hire her for movies of his because Weinstein told him she was difficult. Until Peter Jackson spoke out, Ashley claims that she was unaware that “something unseen was holding her back from obtaining the work she wanted, and had been doing so for decades.”

Give me a break. Please see: Angelina Jolie. Angelina was grossed out by Weinstein, vowed to never work for him, and went on to have a fabulous career because she can a) act well and b) manage not to annoy everyone around her by saying things like “I’ve reached the up with which I can no longer put.”

Amazingly, neither Gloria Allred nor her daughter are representing Ashley. She’s got some lawyer named Theodore Boutrous Jr. And I suppose to her credit, she pledges that any financial award resulting from the suit will go straight to the Times Up legal defense fund.

The suit states, ““Weinstein’s wrongful and outrageous conduct has not just deprived Ms. Judd of the specific opportunity to play a prominent role in a blockbuster film trilogy; it has had a long-lasting ripple effect on her whole career. No person — in whatever job, in whatever industry — should have to forfeit professional aspirations and the right to earn a living to the abusive whims of the powerful.”

I get that she wants to blame her career, such as it has been, on something other than herself. I totally get it. The thing that Ashley Judd is the best at is playing victim. She does it better than anyone in the history of ever.

She spoke to ABC News about the suit, and said, “I lost career opportunity. I lost money. I lost status and prestige and power in my career as a direct result of having been sexually harassed and rebuffing the sexual harassment. My career opportunities, after having been defamed by Harvey Weinstein, were significantly diminished… My career was damaged because I rebuffed Mr. Weinstein’s sexual advances. I know it for a fact.”

Let’s keep in mind also, that she had roles in two Weinstein movies AFTER THE ALLEGED HOTEL ROOM INCIDENT. Will she donate the money she earned from them to the Times Up legal defense fund too? Just curious.
