Remember Glenn Thrush? He’s the former senior Politico reporter who shamelessly asked Hillary Clinton’s campaign chair, John Podesta, to fact-check his work.
Podesta said he found “no problem” there. So that’s nice.
Thrush is now a White House correspondent for the New York Times. And listen– he’s tired of your crap. It’s exhausting. So he’s deleting his Twitter account, effective midnight.
Hey folks — I’ve decided to delete my Twitter account at midnight. Too much of a distraction. DM me for contact info. Thanks for reading!

I feel like this is the equivalent of those self-righteous posts people put on Facebook. You know what I’m talking about. Posts that go something like this:
“Just so everyone knows, I am taking a break from Facebook. Don’t worry about me, I just need to refocus and figure things out. Call me if you need me.”
I HATE those posts.
Why wait for midnight?

Because this is way more dramatic. It’s all about the build up. Duh!
You’re a journalist. This is unwise.

This is a massive loss for Twitter and all of us. https://t.co/yVWD7aToTj

Truly. RIP, Thrush’s Twitter account.
Glenn let me take over your Twitter account, I promise you won’t regret it for at least 10 minutes
— Mark Berman (@markberman) September 18, 2017
write the DNC for contact info. https://t.co/SAu3mO1idB

HA! For real though.
Instead of making a big production out of deleting your Twitter account, why not just stop tweeting?
Unless you have little self-control.

He needs the drama!
why are you deleting it? just take it off your phone. your feed could still be a resource/record etc etc
— Liam Stack (@liamstack) September 18, 2017
But that would be way less dramatic. I don’t think you guys understand how important this dramatic exit is to him and his ego.
This is the best thing to come out of the Trump presidency so far pic.twitter.com/og0MiACdky

All those people he’s blocked, all for nothing.
— Jim Treacher (@jtLOL) September 18, 2017
Such a shame.
I seriously think Glenn only made this announcement, because he wants everyone to beg him to stay.
Seriously? You’re a journalist with a BIG following!
— Emma Lewis (@Petchary) September 18, 2017
No!
— Dan Rodriguez (@holyshityouguys) September 18, 2017
We’ll miss you!
— Timothy Noah (@TimothyNoah1) September 18, 2017
Don’t leave us.
— Michael Kruse (@michaelkruse) September 18, 2017
Totally understandable–but I really appreciate the content you shared here. Please reconsider.
— Jean R. Westcott (@DigiDaunted) September 18, 2017
He wants more of that. It’s an ego boost. Trust me. He’s a hack. This is what they do.
Update: Look who had a change of heart.
As many of you told me… actually deleting a Twitter account turns out to be a terrible idea. So it's simply going dormant. Cheers.
