Study Finds That More Women Are Guilty Of Online Misogyny Than Men

If you ask me, this is the biggest non-news news story you could ever report on. I’ve believed that women are the worst misogynists out there since I was in kindergarten and the little girls in my class told me I was a weirdo for liking Ninja Turtles (it didn’t get much better as I got older – teenage girls are THE WORST). Liberal feminists can scream about the EEEEEEEVIL Patriarchy all they like, but the fact is that the biggest enemies of women and girls are other women and girls.

Even though this doesn’t surprise me in the least, it is nice to have something you’ve long suspected/believed be confirmed by facts.

According to a study done by an anti-bullying charity group called “Ditch the Label,” women are responsible for 52% of online misogynistic insults. This is defined as using words such as “slut,” “b*tch,” “whore,” “hoe,” and “ugly.”

Just to recap, women – not men – are more guilty of calling other women these names. This is not to say there aren’t men who do these things, but they are not the only ones responsible for it. Which means women are just as mean and hateful as feminists tell us men are.

It’s almost like your gender doesn’t dictate whether or not you’re a foul-mouthed hosebeast. It’s like it’s something other than your biological makeup that determines how you treat other people. Some people might refer to that as your character. But that can’t be right – I mean, the left keeps telling us that you’re a terrible human being because of your skin color or what’s between your legs and that gives you the “privilege” to treat others like dirt.

And we ALL KNOW that women are NOT privileged. Don’t we?

First, the breakdown of who uses misogynistic language online, by word usage and how often both men and women use those words –

The only word that a significant number of men more than women use (that is, men use it at least 10% more) is “c*nt.” All the rest are either fairly evenly split, or women use them more (though, to be fair, I use the words “dumb” and “stupid” to refer to all kinds of things – politics, pop culture, the fact that I’m still dealing with a stupid head cold. They aren’t necessarily terms that refer to one gender or the other. Not unless my cold is a product of societal male dominance seeking to make it difficult for me to think straight).

The other part of this study that’s interesting is how online “misogyny” is meant to be taken. Meaning how likely were the people engaged in such misogyny to actually believe that women were second-class citizens (in essence – do these online misogynists hold the same opinions of women as, say, Saudi Arabia?) More often than not, the respondents in the study said they were “indifferent” to non-conformity, with “supporting” being a close second. Meaning, these expressions of misogyny are about as harmful as someone commenting on the weather –

Though I’m kind of surprised that this study actually differentiated because humorous teasing and mean teasing. I thought feminists believed there was no difference between the two.

Will this study change the way feminists interact with men? Probably not. They probably think this study is misogynist in and of itself. How DARE you paint women as just as bad as men!
