Black Protestors Take Over CNN Interview, And What They Say Is Pretty Disturbing

The Justice Department is launching a civil rights investigation after the death of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old black man who died one week after he was taken into custody.

According to the autopsy report, Gray died from a severe spinal cord injury, but it’s not yet clear how that happened

CNN reports that the incident began when Gray noticed the presence of three police officers. He immediately ran away, but the officers ran him down and arrested him on a weapons charge. It should also be noted that this entire incident occurred in a high crime area of Baltimore, known for drugs. Video of the arrest shows the Gray screaming.

Court documents said Gray "fled unprovoked upon noticing police presence."

 

"The officer noticed a knife clipped to the inside of (Gray's) front right pants pocket. The defendant was arrested without force or incident," the documents say.

Surveillance shows Gray talking and conscious at 8:54 a.m. Reports say that he asked to receive medical attention, and the police called for an ambulance at 9:24 a.m.  

"He lapsed into a coma, died, was resuscitated, stayed in a coma and on Monday underwent extensive surgery at Shock Trauma to save his life," Murphy said. "He clung to life for seven days."
 

"We welcome outside review," Police Captain Eric Kowalczky said. "We want to be open, we want to be transparent. We owe it to the city and we owe it to the Gray family to find out exactly what happened."

 

 

Police plan to conclude their own investigation by Friday, May 1. From there, the case will go to the state's attorney's office, which will decide whether to file charges.

The names of the officers involved have been released, but as CNN notes, “It doesn't mean the officers did anything wrong, nor does it mean that these were the only officers involved.”

So this entire case is a big fat question mark right now. And of course I feel sympathy for the family. It would be ridiculous to take some sort of stance without all the facts. Which is why I find it odd that Baltimore’s Black Lives Matter crew is already jumping to the conclusion that he died because of white cops and their inherent racism.

And to top it all off, some of the demonstrators temporarily took over a CNN interview, dropped the f-bomb a bunch of times and said, “We will kill! Straight up!”
