August 11, 2019Sooooo Jeffrey Epstein is dead. We know that for a fact, and that’s about all we know for a fact. Details about his apparent suicide are so shady, three different organizations have opened investigations into it. And, of course, conspiracy theories are rampant, ranging from assassination to– well, no, mostly conspiracy theorists are interested in the assassination possibilities. But inexcusable negligence on behalf of the Metropolitan Correctional Center is also on the table. That being said, while I have no hypothesis of my own to share, I have to say some of the tweets have been kinda funny.
But while it’s one thing for a random citizen to make a wee joke on Twitter, it’s another thing entirely for the President of the United States to retweet something alleging Clinton involvement in Epstein’s death, joke or not. Not that it matters, but I personally think it’s inappropriate for a world leader to make or disseminate those comments.
President Trump evidently does not.

Of course, the hive of Democrat primary candidates had a field day with this one– no Trump tweet uncondemned. Incidentally, it happened to be my two least favorites of the ones whose names I can consistently remember.
Both Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey and former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke said that Trump is trying to divide Americans and distract voters away from the issue of gun violence by fueling the conspiracy theory that Epstein did not commit suicide, but instead was killed by someone connected to former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
I mean. . . Okay, I agree it probably wasn’t the BEST call he’s made on Twitter, but Trump’s also risked alienating a HUGE portion of his voters by suggesting the possibility of red flag laws, so I hardly think he’s trying to distract anyone from gun violence.
“What he’s doing is dangerous, he’s giving light to conspiracy theorists and whipping people up to anger against different people in this country,” Booker said during an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “He is using the same tactics as the Russians to attack our democracy.”
I’m honestly so mad that I can hear Cory Booker’s voice in my head as I read this, I hate his voice so much. But if there’s one thing at least half the country (the left half, let me be clear) doesn’t need any encouragement in, it’s being whipped up into anger. They’re like a carton of whipping cream– dare I say Reddi-Wip.
O’Rourke added during a separate interview on the Sunday morning talk show that the president’s retweet is ‘[a]nother example of Trump using his position to attack political enemies with unfounded conspiracy theories.”
“Trump is changing the conversations so we can’t focus on the real problems that he is part of,” O’Rourke added, singling out gun violence and anti-immigrant sentiments as two issues Trump is fueling through his rhetoric.

First of all, Trump isn’t attacking a political enemy. He already decimated Hillary. She’s ancient history. Second of all, the only conversation Trump is changing is yours, Beto boy. I GUARANTEE you, people were writing #ClintonBodyCount long before this retweet. Case in point: it was a REtweet. RE-, as in “again.”
I don’t know, you guys. I’m obsessed with following this story, and honestly, it’s such a dark and depressing tale that I’m willing to get a laugh where I can. Thoughts?
