Sarah Sanders Fights Back Tears Over Young Boy’s Question On School Safety

During the White House press briefing today, Sarah Sanders took a question from a young boy about school safety. The boy told Sanders that his school recently had a lockdown drill and added that he and his friends worry about a gunman barging in and targeting them. He asked her what the Trump administration is doing to make kids more safe in schools.

“I think that as a kid and certainly as a parent, there is nothing that could be more terrifying for a kid to go to school and not feel safe. I’m sorry you feel that way,” Sanders said, holding back tears.

“This administration takes it seriously, and the school safety commission that the president convened is meeting this week in an official meeting to discuss the best ways forward and how we can do every single thing within our power to protect kids in our schools and to make them feel safe and make their parents feel good about dropping them off,” she continued.
