White House Releases Report On The Chemical Attack In Syria

The US-led coalition carried out strikes against Syria after Assad’s regime (allegedly) carried out a chemical attack against its own people in Douma. On Friday night, Defense Secretary Mattis told reporters he personally reviewed the intelligence and said he had “no doubt” that Assad’s regime is responsible for the attack.

In addition, France recently released “proof” that Assad’s regime carried out the chemical attack.

“Reliable intelligence indicates that Syrian military officials have coordinated what appears to be the use of chemical weapons containing chlorine on Douma, on April 7,” the report reads in part.

That report cites “multiple media sources, the reported symptoms experienced by victims, videos and images showing two assessed barrel bombs from the attack, and reliable information indicating coordination between Syrian military officials before the attack.”

The assessment also suggests that the Syrian government not only used chlorine in the attack on Douma, but that reported symptoms were also consistent with exposure to sarin, a deadly nerve agent.

Some say France’s “proof” is light. They’re remaining skeptical.

Now, the White House has released its own report.

“The United States assesses with confidence that the Syrian regime used chemical weapons in the eastern Damascus suburb of Duma on April 7, 2018, killing dozens of men, women, and children, and severely injuring hundreds more,” the report states.

“This conclusion is based on descriptions of the attack in multiple media sources, the reported symptoms experienced by victims, videos and images showing two assessed barrel bombs from the attack, and reliable information indicating coordination between Syrian military officials before the attack,” the report continues. “A significant body of information points to the regime using chlorine in its bombardment of Duma, while some additional information points to the regime also using the nerve agent sarin. This is not an isolated incident—the Syrian regime has a clear history of using chemical weapons even after pledging that it had given up its chemical weapons program.”

I know this still isn’t enough for some people, and I get it. It’s just really not difficult for me to believe. This is consistent with past actions of Assad’s evil regime.
