The Trump Administration Releases A List Of Demands For A DACA Deal

President Trump has given Congress six months to work out a DACA deal amongst themselves.

Congress now has 6 months to legalize DACA (something the Obama Administration was unable to do). If they can’t, I will revisit this issue!

Lord knows they’re going to wait until the very last minute, because this is WASHINGTON we’re talking about.

Well, the Trump administration is urging them to get a move on. It’s already way ahead of the game. In fact, the Department of Homeland Security recently released a list of crucial elements that need to be involved if a true deal on DACA is to take place.

Democrats aren’t going to like it. I’ll tell you that much. The administration requires:

1. A wall
2. Limits on “chain migration”
3. Tweaking the rules on unaccompanied illegal minors
4. Getting serious about visa overstays
5. Withholding federal dollars from sanctuary cities

All things I can get on board with!

“The southwest border security requirements were developed through a rigorous assessment. … They reflect the need for substantial investment to significantly enhance border security toward the standard of operational control directed by the president,” Benjamin Cassidy, DHS’s assistant secretary for legislative affairs, wrote in a letter to Durbin.

The letter and document come after several senators met with White House chief of staff John Kelly last month before the holiday recess.

Senators said Kelly promised that he would give them a list of the administration’s requirements for any deal pairing legislative solutions for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program with a border security package.

Durbin is ticked.

Latest White House demand on immigration: $18 billion for a border wall. Outrageous. President Trump has said he may need a good government shutdown to get his wall. With this demand, he seems to be heading in that direction.

In other words, Pelosi thinks it makes more sense to spend big bucks on high speed internet than national security. Cool. Our right to high speed internet access funded by the government shall not be infringed!

I’d also like to remind Pelosi that once upon a time, Democrats had the majority, and they didn’t do any of those marvelous things.

Democrats have already made it clear that they’re not going to bend. Internet access is much more important than border security. #priorities
