Sen. Franken Accused Of Groping A Media Matters Journalist At An Obama Inauguration Party

WASHINGTON, DC - OCTOBER 31: Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) listens during a Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism hearing titled 'Extremist Content and Russian Disinformation Online' on Capitol Hill, October 31, 2017 in Washington, DC. The committee questioned the tech company representatives about attempts by Russian operatives to spread disinformation and purchase political ads on their platforms, and what efforts the companies plan to use to prevent similar incidents in future elections. Sen. Al Franken is expected to give a speech on the Senate floor around 11:45 ET. (By the time you’re reading this, he might’ve already delivered it and resigned. Maybe. I’m assuming he’ll resign, but last night, his social media person said no decision had been made.)

Either way, that doesn’t change this story.

Sen. Franken has another accuser. Liberal journalist Tina Dupuy claims Franken put his hand on her waist “grabbing a handful of flesh…Then he squeezed. At least twice” at an inauguration party for Barack Obama.

OOOH DANG. And this is coming from a liberal journalist. She’s certainly not saying this to “help” the Republican Party.

She wrote about her experience in a piece published on The Atlantic.

D.C. was decked out and packed in for the inauguration of a young and popular new president. The town was buzzing with optimism, and one of the many events on our list was a swanky Media Matters party with Democratic notables everywhere. Then I saw Al Franken. I only bug celebrities for pictures when it’ll make my foster mom happy. She loves Franken, so I asked to get a picture with him. We posed for the shot. He immediately put his hand on my waist, grabbing a handful of flesh. I froze. Then he squeezed. At least twice.

I’d been married for two years at the time; I don’t let my husband touch me like that in public because I believe it diminishes me as a professional woman. Al Franken’s familiarity was inappropriate and unwanted. It was also quick; he knew exactly what he was doing.

It shrunk me. It’s like I was no longer a person, only ornamental. It said, “You don’t matter—and I do.” He wanted to cop a feel and he demonstrated he didn’t need my permission.

You can read the full thing here.

She’s officially Franken’s eighth accuser.

Like I said. An announcement is coming. Whether he steps down or not, I’m sure this isn’t the last allegation we’ll hear against him.
