Man, this story just doesn’t stop.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, the FBI has opened an investigation into Harvey Weinstein and his pervy ways.
DailyMail.com understands the move came at the behest of the Department of Justice, run by Donald Trump‘s Attorney General Jeff Sessions, which instructed the bureau to investigate the mounting allegations leveled at the movie mogul.
While it is unknown whether the DOJ order came directly from Sessions, the move is likely to be seen in a political light given Weinstein’s friendship with Trump foe Hillary Clinton.
The move by the DOJ came amid rumors that Weinstein was planning on heading to Europe for sex rehab – leading to fears of a Roman Polanski-style situation where he dodges prosecution in the U.S.
Meaning, he could legitimately face charges.
Among the allegations against Weinstein, which the FBI is expected to examine, is that he forced Lucia Evans, a student who wanted to be an actress, to perform oral sex on him in New York in 2004.
New York State has no statute of limitations on rape and criminal sexual acts – its legal term for forced oral or anal intercourse.
Indeed, on Wednesday evening the NYPD confirmed that they had opened an investigation.
The Special Victims Division has been ordered to ‘endeavor to identify and locate and interview any potential victims’ of the Oscar winning producer.
One police officer described Weinstein as a professional “super predator.”
“He’s a super predator. His conduct shows he’s been at this a long time, and he’s a professional at it,” one police official said, according to the New York Post. “He’s been at this so long, there’s no way there are not other victims out there. Imagine how many promises he’s made to these young women who were trying to make it into the industry.”
That’s the most accurate description I’ve heard all day.
At this point, it doesn’t look like Weinstein will seek sex addiction therapy (oh brother) in Europe. He’s expected to stay stateside and will undergo “treatment” at The Meadows Center in Arizona.
To be continued…
