The Contest To Name April The Giraffe’s Baby Isn’t Exactly Going As Planned

SO looking forward to the inevitable comments from people who read this post and then decide to take a dump all over everyone’s fun by saying something like, “OMG why do you care about this giraffe there are more important things to care about get a life!!”

If you missed out on that sh*tstorm from the weekend, catch up right here.

ANYWAY, if you haven’t been keeping up with April and her baby, you should know that the Animal Adventure Park, which is the zoo where April lives, is filled with marketing GENIUSES who not only made total bank from livestreaming April’s impending delivery for 6 weeks, but now they’re making even more bank by holding an online contest to name the new baby giraffe.

According to this, though, it’s not going entirely as expected.

If you’re willing to pony up $5, you can get 5 votes on what to name April’s baby.  In ten days, they’ll announce the ten names that got the most votes overall, and then apparently the entire internet will get to vote on any of those names (I’m sure they’ll charge for that too.)

So because the internet is filled with jokesters, there are apparently a whole slew of people who are trying to get the name Harambe to win, an obvious reference to the gorilla that got shot last year resulting in the internet practically melting down.

If it were up to me, which it isn’t because I’m not willing to spend any money to vote, I would go with this suggestion:

Anyway, if the name Harambe wins, it’ll be interesting to see if the Animal Adventure Park actually goes with it.  This is what happens when you invite the internet to vote on stuff.
