Yesterday, I posted a video of a couple of dudes acting like dogs, which I found positively hilarious. You can catch up with that right here.
Listen – I get that not all people have the same sense of humor about things. And it's totally cool if people didn't find that video funny. I mean, it made me LOL, but I LOL at a lot of things, because I am a relentlessly cheerful person. That's just me.
But what I don't get, and am frankly disappointed by, is NOT that so many of our followers didn't find the video funny, but that they decided they wanted to be complete JERKS about it. And some people weren't just jerks about it, but they actually accused me of being insulting to men and not respecting men, simply because I posted a video that TWO MEN made. Just look at some of these comments:
"And just how funny would it be if the comparison were to women and dogs?"
"Women think it's funny to emasculate guys, but that's exactly the kind of guy they are not attracted to."
"Why has it become okay to make fun of men? Women would be protesting like crazy if you did this to them. My husband is not a dog and is a great guy. I'm very proud of what he does for his family. And we have raised two men that are the same. God first, family second, self last. Why don't you start showing the good things men do instead of demonizing them?"
"Come on ladies really? this is demeaning to men… you never think a video like this was funny if it was 2 women acting like dogs."
"Maybe it's my age, but I don't think this is funny at all. I'm so tired of men being portrayed as incompetent and stupid, and I refuse to buy products who portray "dads" as morons in their ads. Our dads, husbands, sons and grandsons, etc. deserve better."
"Pretty low class….expect more from you."
"This is insulting to men. If you put women in as the dogs, you would have a law suit."
This is what it's come to, y'all. We've got followers now who have taken a page right from the liberal playbook of being offended by everything, seeing sexism in everything, seeing disrespect in everything, and being just humorless, judgmental JERKS.
Did they all miss the part where it was TWO DUDES who made the video? It was two guys poking fun at how dogs behave. That's it. If two women had made the same video then I would have been delighted to post it, because people acting out the behavior of animals, especially dogs, makes me laugh. It didn't occur to me to find it demeaning to men, since TWO MEN FREAKING MADE IT, nor did it occur to me that people would interpret a harmless comedy video to mean that I don't respect men. I mean, seriously?
There were a bunch of people who felt an inexplicable need to comment things like, "This isn't funny." Why do people do that? I mean, if I don't think something's funny, I just move on. I don't feel an urge to ruin everyone else's fun or rain on other people's parades. I will never understand people who do that. And the fact that it's other conservatives doing that to each other makes it worse somehow.
Thankfully, we also have lots of fantastic followers with keen senses of humor, who haven't built homes on the Island Of Perpetually Offended People, and they have shared the video like crazy, they've commented about how funny they thought it was, and one clever and competent reader in particular even posted this hilarious cat version:
